Chapter 6

Temperance drained the last of her strawberry daiquiri.

"Want another?" Mark asked from the other side of the bar.

She shook her head. "I'm good."

Another icy drink wouldn't do anything to cool her off. Several more though and she might just fuck in public.

She huffed a silent laugh. Even out-of-her-mind drunk she would probably never be that uninhibited.

Then again… She rubbed her fingertips over the amethyst.

She'd never been much of a voyeur either. She'd never been turned on by mixed or same sex couples doing everything except fuck on the dance floor.

The same could not be said when it came to Thanos and Demetri. Every kiss, every touch sent a rush of heat straight to her sex.

She was ready to take the next step.

No, not step. Leap.

Like cliff diving. Like skydiving.

The risks could be calculated but people still died.

Her heart did a tumble and roll.

We don't have to go all the way tonight.

She squeezed her legs together and fisted the amethyst.

Liar. She wanted this too much for Demetri to say no. She wanted this for herself and for Thanos.

Someone claimed a place next to her at the bar. A male voice said, "They look good together."

He had the same accent as Thanos, but it had the opposite effect on her, chilling her skin and shrinking her stomach so it hurt. She slid off the stool and turned toward him like a hiker who wanted to keep an eye on an asp.

He was Greek, broad shouldered and casually dressed in a white shirt that had black and light blue bands across the chest. With his Olympian's body and striking blue eyes beneath black lashes, he was the kind of gorgeous that turned heads, but her pounding heart said run, run, run, not come, come, come.

His gaze swept over her, stripping her before returning to her face. "I'm Nikos. Perhaps Thanos mentioned me? I'm his brother."

"No." She released the pendant and crossed her arms.

"It's early." He tilted his head toward the dance floor and offered a closed-mouthed serpent's smile. "He's always liked to share."

Her heart dropped to her shriveled stomach and pounded there, leaving an ache in her empty chest. Had she been wrong to make-out with Thanos at the shop? To bring him here for Demetri?

Be careful what you wish for, Ava had said after she'd wished for this. Be careful if a new man enters your life.

She stepped away from the bar. Nikos grabbed her wrist. "Dance with me. Thanos won't care."

She jerked from his grip and fled to the dance floor. Demetri and Thanos pulled apart then drew together with her held between them, but the need that had wet her panties and heated her body had become a deep chill

She shivered and Demetri asked, "What's wrong?"

She hugged him, the three of them continuing to move to the slow beat of a love song. She rubbed her cheek against his pale green shirt. He rubbed his mouth against her ear. "Talk to me, Tempe. What's wrong?"

His muscles were rock hard, his heart pounding fast against her chest, his voice more urgent.
